Humpty Dumpty Sat On A Wall

Getting inspired has never been a problem with me.  I see something and I have a thousand ideas.  Its keeping those thousand ideas in order.  So every morning I state my intention for that day.  You know kind of like a proclamation.  Today I am going to blog or today I am going to paint a giant egg that sat on a wall.  I'm going to put big red lips on him but I won't let him not get put back together again. Nope my Humpty Dumpty will be a little broken but he will recover. After all we all are a little broken.  I think it is what makes us interesting.

So here is a peek.

#humptydumpty was a smart #egg, a tad bit clumsy, but a good hearted and jovial one. That's why it was so important for him to get put back together after the great fall. #childrensbook #childstorybook #childhoodmemories #illustration #artwork #watercolor

I used 140 cold pressed paper with this image and Winsor and Newton cake water color pigments.  This version will be going in a pattern just as soon as my test prints come back from SpoonFlower.
#humptydumpty sat in a wall... I love old #nurseryrhymes. The #illustration, the crazy #story.  It's hard to say which inspires the #illustrations or theses stories. Here is my little Humpty Dumpty.  #childhoodmemories #childrensbook #childstorybook #wate
Of coarse I had to make him in his various stages.
#humptydumpty had a great fall!! And so the #story goes.  #drawing #colorful #watercolour #watercolor #water #color #illustration #illustrations #childrensbook #childstorybook #childhoodmemories #art #artist #artwork #artfulliving #winsorandnewton

I even added his rescuers, All the Kings horses and all the Kings men.  Actually shown here is the fabric that I have ordered.  I thought I would create some little plushy dolls that little hands could play with.  I would have LOVED this.  Infant I did create some dolls like this a while back but I did little "Peter Rabbit" from Beatrix Potter.   So back to Humpty Dumpty, I mirrored the elements (that's the horses and the soldiers) and when I get the fabric I will cut them out and sew them up.

They are about the size for little hands.  Toddler hands.  I will keep you all advised and make sure I post when I get them all done.
Now if that is not your style but a bit of sewing would be then I have taken that into consideration.

Well I believe that is enough for today.  I have so much more to get done and created.
 So Until next time!!

Thank You Spoonflower!

Sit down and pour your favorite cup of tea and let me tell you what has been going on in my studio.
First of all I have been busy designing, water coloring, sketching, photographing......Ahhhh.  But I love it.  In looking for fall inspiration this year, I focused on finding some of my favorite colors. It is a bit of teal blue.  That perfect pumpkin that stands out from the rest, with that magical color.
I just got my order from #spoonflower!! I could not be happier!! As you can see by the pic, I have placed my original #watercolor toward the bottom,  the colors and reprint are right on point!! Ohhhh it's just beyond words!! #pumpkin #patern #repeat #fabr

This is a pic of my original designs and the fabric that arrived from Spoonflower.  It turned out so perfect.  I just can't say enough about the quality and print of my designs.  Shown here is my Fall Collection on Eco Canvas.  It is a durable weave that has an ultra soft silky feel.  Great for a multitude of sewing projects.

All I did to create this was to measure an existing place mat, use those dimensions and provide a 5/8 seam allowance.  I also added some batting to make it nice and soft and it will also create extra protection from your table surface from hot plates.

I thought also that it would be a nice touch to include another design from my Fall 2015 Collection, on the other side.  A reversible place mat.  When doing this you should place all the right facing sides together with the batting sew together all side but LEAVE a few inches open.  That way you can turn it inside out.  Cut the batting close to the stitched edge and then cut the remaining seam allowances. Cut corners close to the seam edge and then press open. Turn inside out and then press, then stitch a 1/4 seam around the mat closing and stabilizing the place mat edges. You can see that in the photograph.

This design can work from September through November.

In the above image this is the reversible side.  The colors are amazing.  This fabric is machine washable and dribble but due to the cotton batting in side, I would recommend washing in a color setting (cold water) and then just air drying.

Now if your wondering what I was fixing to munch down on with my tea.  This was a great little box of mix I picked up in the store.  Since some of us in this house need a gluten free diet, I have to recommend this.
